FAQ

What is Alpha Mountain Lodging?

Alpha Mountain Lodging is a quiet, family-owned cabin retreat just outside Revelstoke, British Columbia.

We offer six thoughtfully designed modern-rustic lodges, along with shared amenities including a spacious cedar sauna, a custom gear-drying and storage building, and an onsite 1km Kihîw Interpretive Nature Trail highlighting local native flora and fauna and their Indigenous uses. In winter, the trail becomes a snowshoe loop, with rentals available.

Our property is designed for guests who value comfort, privacy, and a genuine connection to nature—without being far from town.

Where are you located?

We’re located on a 25-acre forested acreage 4km west of Revelstoke, BC. You’re close enough for easy access to restaurants, shops, and activities, but far enough away to enjoy peace, dark skies, and a true mountain setting.

Our About Us webpage displays a google map to see our exact location.

How far are you from downtown Revelstoke?

We’re just a few minutes from the outskirts of town, with downtown Revelstoke only about a 10-minute drive away.

Is Alpha Mountain Lodging family‑friendly?

Yes. Our cabins are well suited for families and couples who want space to relax. With full kitchens, comfortable layouts, and outdoor room to explore, many guests choose us specifically because it’s easy to travel here with kids.

Is it a quiet place to stay?

Yes. Alpha Mountain Lodging is intentionally not a party destination, and we prioritize a peaceful, respectful atmosphere so guests can truly relax.

A common question we receive is about the nearby railway. While the tracks are close to the property, our cabins were built with strong soundproofing. With the windows closed, train noise is generally minimal and often not noticed at all by guests. Many people are pleasantly surprised by how quiet it feels once inside the cabins.

Can you snowmobile directly from Alpha Mountain Lodging?

Yes. In winter, guests can snowmobile directly from the property, weather and trail conditions permitting. We’re located across the road from the Boulder Mountain and Frisby Ridge West access, making Alpha Mountain Lodging a convenient basecamp for sledders who want to start and end their day right at their cabin.

We’re proud sponsors of the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club, supporting the maintenance of the local trail network and responsible access to these riding areas.

Are you close to outdoor activities?

Yes. Alpha Mountain Lodging makes an excellent basecamp for exploring Revelstoke and the surrounding area, including:

  • Glacier National Park
  • Meadow in the Sky Parkway
  • Hiking, biking, skiing, and snowshoeing

In addition, guests can enjoy our onsite 1km Kihîw Nature Trail, which offers hiking in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter—a quiet, easy way to connect with the landscape right from the property.

Seasonal adventures are all close by.

Are you eco‑friendly?

Sustainability is a core value for us. Alpha Mountain Lodging is proudly Biosphere Certified (Certificate number: BAR 012/2024 RTI) and we operate with thoughtful environmental practices, including eco‑friendly amenities, waste reduction, and respect for the land. More information about our sustainable initiatives can be found here.

Are you Indigenous‑owned?

Yes. Alpha Mountain Lodging is Indigenous family‑owned. Our connection to the land and commitment to stewardship are reflected throughout the property, including our interpretive Kihîw Nature Trail.

What is the Kihîw Nature Trail?

The Kihîw Nature Trail is a short interpretive loop on our property that highlights native plants, animals, and their cultural significance. It’s a peaceful walk designed to deepen guests’ connection to the land and local ecology. More info can be found here.

Do you allow pets?

Select cabins are pet‑friendly. We limit the number of pets per cabin to maintain comfort and protect the space. Please check individual cabin listings or contact us directly for details.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy can be found on our Terms & Conditions page. We recommend reviewing this page before booking.

Do you allow one‑night stays?

No. We do not allow one‑night stays. As a small, family‑run business, short stays are not feasible for us operationally, and minimum stays allow us to maintain the quality of the experience for our guests.

How far are you from Revelstoke Mountain Resort (the ski hill)?

We’re approximately a 15–20 minute drive from Revelstoke Mountain Resort, depending on traffic and weather conditions. Many guests enjoy staying with us for the quiet setting while still having easy access to the ski hill.

Is Alpha Mountain Lodging suitable for groups or events?

Yes, we welcome group bookings when the full property is reserved. We do not host parties.

Events such as weddings require prior approval, additional planning, and appropriate rentals (such as tents, equipment, or power needs) to ensure they align with the quiet nature of the property. An additional event fee applies, which varies depending on the scope of the event, including power usage and logistics.

We intentionally host only a limited number of weddings each year to respect our neighbours and maintain a peaceful environment for everyone. If you’re interested in planning an event, please get in touch with us to discuss details.

Will we get snowed in during winter?

Snow is part of life in Revelstoke, but guests do not need to worry about being snowed in at Alpha Mountain Lodging. We maintain our own heavy snow‑removal equipment and clear the property promptly as needed—often before many side streets in town are addressed. Driveways, access roads, and parking areas are regularly maintained so guests can come and go safely throughout the winter.
